The Best No. 4: Dove Go Fresh Cool Essentials, $4.99 TotalBeauty.com average reader rating: 9.0*
Why it's great: Readers rave about this deodorant's "heavenly smell" and ability to keep "sweat at bay" all day. One reviewer says, "[It's] very refreshing and doesn't really rub off on my clothes.... I was so impressed with this deodorant, and I also found that it moisturized my underarms really well. It didn't stick so hard when trying to rub off in the shower." Another reader says, "It doesn't show up when I lift my arms up. You would never know I was wearing it because you can't see it."

The Best No. 5: Pristine Beauty Take a Whiff! Natural Deodorant, $22 TotalBeauty.com average reader rating: 8.9*
Why it's great: Readers say the best part about this product is that it's "aluminum-free" and "the first effective vegan deodorant" they've used. One comments, "This deodorant might seem expensive, but it lasts and lasts. I have had it for 14 months and use it every day. This is an exceptional buy." Another reader says, "Once you try this you will never go back to conventional deodorants! It's good for you and works great even in the Texas heat. I love it!"

The Best No. 6: Certain Dri Regular Roll-On, $7.29 TotalBeauty.com average reader rating: 8.8*
Why it's great: Readers call this product "a lifesaver." One raves, "I've tried so many antiperspirants and this one is the absolute best. My armpits used to be gross and wet, but this thing keeps them 100 percent dry." Another says, "This [product] is a godsend for anyone with sweating problems." Another woman confesses, "I sweat entirely too much. It doesn't matter what the weather is or how much activity I'm doing. My clothes were steadily being ruined by excessive sweating. I was in a constant state of sporting embarrassing sweat stains, and all of the 'prescription strength' products on the market still fell way, way short. This is the only thing that has stopped my sweating."

The Best No. 7: Kiehl's Superbly Efficient Anti-Perspirant and Deodorant, $16 TotalBeauty.com average reader rating: 8.6*
Why it's great: Readers say this antiperspirant and deodorant is "underarm therapy" and is "the only one that works consistently well." "Not even the prescription deodorant my dermatologist prescribed works as well as this to combat both odor and wetness," says one reviewer. "I use it all year long, and it's worked better for me in the summer than any other brand I've ever tried." Another reader adds, "In spite of its powerful protection, this is also the gentlest deodorant I've ever used" and it doesn't have the "cloying, floral, overpowering smells of your standard deodorants."

The Best No. 8: Kiss My Face Liquid Rock Roll-On Deodorant, $5.99 TotalBeauty.com average reader rating: 8.5*
Why it's great: Readers rave about this aluminum-free deodorant. One says, "This deodorant does exactly what it is supposed to do. I recently tried to purchase more natural products but was skeptical of getting a deodorant, because I assumed it would not work. This has left me odorless and sweat-free even after an hour-long spin class."

The Best No. 9: Avon On Duty Roll-On Anti-Perspirant Deodorant, $1.99 TotalBeauty.com average reader rating: 8.5*
Why it's great: Readers call this old favorite a "best-kept secret," because it is a "powerhouse" deodorant with an unbeatable price. One reader says, "Our family has used this deodorant for years with great success, and you just can't beat the value." Reviewers say this deodorant is great for everyday use, but is "not recommended for people who need a stronger-than-usual deodorant."

The Worst No. 1: Secret Original Aerosol, $4.49 TotalBeauty.com average reader rating: 4.9*
Why: One reader says, "If this was my only option for an antiperspirant, I'd rather stay indoors." Another reader agrees, saying this "doesn't help prevent perspiration at all" and the powder scent of this product is "way too intense."

The Worst No. 2: Suave 24-Hour Protection Invisible Solid Antiperspirant/Deodorant, $2 TotalBeauty.com average reader rating: 5.8*
Why: "The price made me swoon, [but this product] cost me quite a bit more embarrassment than I had planned on," says one reader. "Everything you hate in a deodorant is in this one: It leaves white stains on clothes, clumps and feels like glue underneath your arms." Reviewers say that this product "does not glide on smoothly" and feels like "trying to rub a candle or a dry bar of soap" on their underarms.

The Worst No. 3: Tom's of Maine Natural Long-Lasting Deodorant Stick, $4.99 TotalBeauty.com average reader rating: 6.2*
Why: One reader laments that using this deodorant is "almost worse than not using deodorant at all." "I find myself reapplying four times a day and I've never had to reapply deodorant before," says a reviewer. Another says, "This deodorant caused me to have body odor. I started smelling like an onion patch." And those with "remotely sensitive skin" should steer clear of this product, as some reviewers report "a sunburn-like rash" after use.

The Worst No. 4: Clinique Antiperspirant-Deodorant Roll-On, $12 TotalBeauty.com average reader rating: 6.5*
Why: "I thought because it is a clear liquid, [this product] would be perfect for summer -- no more white marks on my clothes!" says one reader. "Wrong. It's a clear liquid when it goes on, but when it dries there's still a bit of white to it." "It just feels oddly wet," says another reader. "And there is a bit of a smell to it ... I don't have a heavy body odor, but sometimes I feel like I do when I wear this.
