Environment activist 'marries' tree

An environmental activist has "married" a tree in Buenos Aires in an effort to draw attention to global environmental concerns.

Dressed in a crisp white suit and blue hat, Richard Torres carried a bouquet as the wedding party approached his intended in one of the city's main parks on Sunday evening.

The Peruvian actor and activist laid symbolic offerings at the base of the tree before confirming his wedding vows and receiving a ring.

He even gave the tree a kiss, much to the delight of onlookers gathered in the Rose Garden to watch the festivities. Click on read more to continue....

REVEALED: World's Richest Piece Of Land Is In Africa

The title "world's richest piece of real estate" may conjure up images of Rodeo Drive, the French Riviera or New York City's Fifth Avenue, but it is actually located in Africa, Botswana to be precise.

According to Debswana, a mining conglomerate jointly owned by De Beers and the Botswana government, the richest piece of land on the planet may very well be the Jwaneng diamond mine, one of the world's five super pits.

"Jwaneng mine is the most valuable diamond mine in the world by value," says Esther Kanaimba-Senai, the head of corporate affairs for Debswana in Botswana. "Each carat that we mine fetches a lot more money. … In addition the volume that we produce lends itself to be the most valuable mine in the world."

The Jwaneng mine produces about 10-million carats a year, and now they're about to embark in a super project to go even deeper into the earth to increase output. Click on read more to continue....

I Once Jived With The Queen - Sir Elton Reveals

Sir Elton John claims he once jived with the Queen to rock'n'roll hit Rock Around The Clock.

The musician said she asked if she could join him on the dancefloor when he attended an event at Windsor Castle.

Sir Elton talks about his dance to the Bill Haley tune as he recalls his royal encounters when he appears as a guest on tomorrow night's Graham Norton Show on BBC1.

He explained: "Princess Margaret and I became friends. I took her to the cinema once at the Odeon Kensington. We had a lovely time and then we went out to dinner and I took her home. Nothing happened of course.

"I also once danced with Princess Anne at Prince Andrew's 21st Birthday and the Queen came over and said, 'may I join you?'. We danced to Bill Haley's Rock Around the Clock. It was one of the most surreal moments of my life.

"Having been born in a council house in Pinner the chances of dancing with the Queen at Windsor Castle were pretty long."

He also told how enjoys his children's bathtimes before he goes onstage during tours - sometimes still with foam on his outfits. Continue the story after the cut....

Taraba State House of Assembly Speaker Dies at 47

The Speaker of Taraba State House of Assembly, Haruna Tsokwa, slumped in the early hours of today Monday, November 4^th 2013 in his house and was rushed to the hospital where he was declared dead.

The late Speaker was in forefront of the lawmakers in Taraba State Assembly who opposed Governor Danbaba Suntai's resumption of work in the state after his foreign medical treatment because of his frail state of health.

The Speaker has earlier escaped an assassination attempt but could not survive this time. It was also reported that the Speaker had a medical condition he has been battling for long. What a great loss!

May his soul rest in peace.

Great Nigeria House in Lagos Island was gutted by fire this morning

According to reports, the 15-storey building, along Martins Street, off Balogun Road, Marina, Lagos Island went up in flames at about 6:30am and soon after, fire fighters from Onikan Fire Station responded promptly to  put out the fire.

No life was lost in the fire incident as the building which houses many offices had not  opened for business when the fire started. Click on read more to view pics....
