Strong winds and cooler temperatures are giving much
of the country a proper taste of autumn.
Gale-force northerly winds will develop in coastal areas of eastern England
with the likelihood of gusts between 50 and 60 miles an hour in places.
This picture shows huge waves battering the coast at Seaburn near
Sunderland.
The high winds have the potential to cause "minor" disruption in
some areas because of large waves in the North Sea which could possibly breach
sea walls in some areas and cause roads to flood.
People are being urged to avoid coastal paths and promenades in the affected
areas.
